1st Calderbank Timeline

1911

1st Calderbank BB founded within Calderbank Parish Church. 

1912

The BB Brigade Executive awarded the Cross for Heroism to Private Hubert Rankine, aged 12, 1st Calderbank Company, for rescuing a boy from drowning who had fallen through the ice on Calderbank Loch.

1975

1st Calderbank suspends its membership due to low numbers.

1980

1st Calderbank re-enrolled into the BB within Calderbank Parish Church.

1986

1st Calderbank suspends its membership again due to low numbers.

2019

1st Calderbank BB re-enrolled into the BB within Calderbank Parish Church under our Chaplain Rev Dr Peter Donald and Captain Elaine Wood.

2020

In common with all other youth organisations, the covid lockdowns throughout 2020 and 2021 brought a pause to our work.

2021

Back up and running, 1st Calderbank Anchor section and Junior Section started back and we quickly got back into our stride. 

2022

In November, Captain Elaine Wood stood down and Rev Dr Peter Donald took on the role of Acting Captain alongside his role of Chaplain.

2024

We welcomed the appointment of a new Captain to 1st Calderbank - Lesley Aitken took up the role with effect from May 2024.
